Ms. Susan Bahnick I am excited about another great year at Northern Lehigh School District. As we start the new school year, we are constantly looking at what we can do to better serve our students, teachers, administrators and support staff. Keeping the Food Service Department with in the government guidelines but working with our customers to give them food offerings that are appealing to them.

Our first introduction is a new Salad Bar in the High School, this will be an additional lunch choice. We have had the distinct pleasure of having Ms. Connie Smith, Intern from Cedar Crest College assisting us with the implementation of this. This will be offered as a meal to the students and will offer Fresh vegetables, fruits, salads, toppings, fresh bread and rolls and much more!!!!

We look forward to serving our annual Thanksgiving Dinner. The Cafeteria staff works hard to prepare a homemade turkey dinner with all the fixings!!! Everyone enjoys that day!

The Cafeteria's will have it's 2nd Annual Holiday decorating contest. The staff plans well in advance on how to turn their cafeteria's in to a fun festive place to enjoy your breakfast and lunch. The students Love the decorations and my staff enjoys the competition. Everyone has fun with it!

Last year we participated with the nutrition class, where the students created a meal according to the government standards, gave me the recipes and we produced the approved meal choices. Then the student body voted on the Best offering. The student's realized it's not that easy to stay within the government guidelines and a very tight budget. Our top choices that WON was Chicken Caesar Wrap on a whole grain tortilla, Homemade Chicken Vegetable Lo Mein, and Grilled Chicken served with N.L. version of Ruby Tuesday's mashed and creamy cauliflower. It was exciting, and helped the student's understand why the changes in the meals have occurred. We look forward to doing that again this year.

We are constantly looking at how we can better our services! We are thrilled to be part of the Northern Lehigh Family!
